Company History
Chapelhouse Motor Company is a family run business and now a
household name in the North West. It was originally started by
local owner Nick Coen back in 1989, from the then Proton franchise
on Dentons Green Lane, St. Helens and has developed into the group
it is today.
Since then, Chapelhouse has enjoyed continued growth as more and
more local customers have enjoyed the "Chapelhouse Experience" and
recommended us to their friends and family. Many of our customers
are now driving their fifth or even sixth vehicle purchased from
us.
The Dentons Green Lane site enjoyed continued growth but was
later sold following the acquisition of the town centre site at
Canal Street, conveniently located directly opposite the cinema.
This larger site is the new home of St Helens Suzuki, Peugeot,
Citroen and now Kia, and features a complete parts, service &
sales facility along with over 120 quality used cars.
2002 also saw the acquisition of "Greenfens" in Ainsdale,
Southport, which after significant refurbishment became Chapelhouse
Citroen. The full Citroen range is on display in the showroom at
Ainsdale and this is complemented outside by a fantastic selection
of quality used Citroen cars & vans. In addition, the site also
houses a complete parts, service & sales facility featuring a
custom built seven bay workshop.
In 2005, Chapelhouse further branched out by purchasing part of
the H.L. Gorner Mercedez Benz site at Warrington. This dealership
is in the primarily motor trade area of the town located on Milner
Street, just off the A57. The site is host to Chapelhouse's third
Suzuki franchise as well as the groups' first Kia franchise.
2006 saw the acquisition of West Coast Saab & Hyundai
located alongside Chapelhouse Citroen on Liverpool Road, Ainsdale.
The Peugeot brand was quickly added to the lineup at Ainsdale,
offering customers a fantastic selection of brands all on the one
single site. The Ainsdale site relationship with Saab spans
well over 40 years and Chapelhouse have committed to continue this
link by remaining an official "Saab Authorised Repairer." The
team at Ainsdale have over a century of combined experience of
working with the Saab brand and will continue to offer the complete
range of aftersales facilities to local Saab owners.
2007 saw the introduction of a further two brands to the
Ainsdale site at Southport. First to arrive was Fiat, famed for
producing lifestyle focused vehicles and who have been notably
absent from Southport for a number of years now.
Next came Suzuki, the groups fourth Suzuki franchise. Which is
housed just down the road from the main Ainsdale site in the former
Carlton Suzuki Garage dealership. Hyundai has also joined Suzuki on
this site to enable the existing Ainsdale site to be further
developed and offer customers an even greater selection of new and
quality used cars.
In 2009 Chapelhouse re-introduced the Peugeot Brand to
Warrington having purchased the Halls Motor site in Folly Lane
which had serviced the areas Peugeot Needs for over 30 years.
July 2010 saw the launch of our new Kia franchise at St Helens
after extensive remodeling of our Canal Street showroom this
improved facility gives our customers even more choice and value.
July also saw the opening of our purpose built vehicle preparation
site in St Helens allowing Chapelhouse the flexibility of round the
clock PDI (pre delivery inspection) of all our sales vehicles.
Our buying power as an established group, coupled with the peace
of mind associated with dealing with a major player in vehicle
retailing, service, repairs & replacement parts stands for a
significant value to local vehicle owners who may be undecided
about which make and model to choose. When making that all
important buying decision, our multi franchise sites enable the
sales team to offer valuable advice and test drives across multiple
brands, making comparison and selection easy and with over 500
used vehicles in stock and a full range of franchise options
including Citroen, Hyundai, Kia, Peugeot, Fiat and Suzuki have
all chosen Chapelhouse.
