ConnectedCAM Citroen® named no.1 safety feature
Added: 05 March 2019
ConnectedCAM Citroen® has won the highly-regarded ‘Safety Technology of the Year’ prize at the 2019 FirstCar Awards.
The integrated dashcam system – a world first – is positioned behind the rear-view mirror, debuting in Citroen’s best-selling C3 and is now also available in the brand new Citroen C5 Aircross.
The C5 Aircross SUV has arrived at Chapelhouse Citroen dealerships in Southport and St Helens, and is ready to test drive today!
The ConnectedCAM Citroen® system features a wide-angle HD camera and a huge 128GB memory. The award-winning feature can be used as a means of sharing stand-out photos and videos of your journey with your friends and family on social media via the compatible smartphone app.
Perhaps more importantly, the ConnectedCAM Citroen doubles as a safety feature, acting as a standard dashcam to record any unfortunate incidents or near misses.
David Motton, editor of FirstCar, said: “We’re delighted that Citroen has made its integrated dashcam – ConnectedCAM Citroen. Of course, the dashcam will be used if you have to make an insurance claim. By integrating the camera, Citroen has eliminated any risk of it being positioned where it might obscure the driver’s view, which is possible with an aftermarket camera.
“What’s more, one leading insurance company has found more than a third of drivers feel safer with a dashcam fitted to their car. We think dashcams encourage better driving as you know your mistakes – as well as other drivers’ – will be recorded if you have a collision.”
Jonathan Heeks, Marketing Communications Manager at Citroen UK, commented after collecting the award: “We pride ourselves on developing comfortable and safe vehicles for all drivers, but it is particularly important for younger drivers to feel safe whilst they are still building their confidence on the road.”
