Highlight features

Mild Hybrid Powertrain
The NEW Rio hatchback features an advanced mild-hybrid powertrain, enabling low-emission driving. By pairing the latest 1.0 T-GDi petrol engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, it can reduce fuel consumption levels. What’s more, as a mild hybrid car the integrated ‘e-system’ recovers kinetic energy during the braking. This provides assistance when accelerating, reducing stress on the engine which will increase overall MPG consumption.

What’s the difference between Hybrid and Mild Hybrid?
It feels like there’s a huge increase in the types of hybrids available, and it can be hard to decide what’s right for you. A mild hybrid car uses an electric motor to assist the petrol or diesel engine when accelerating to save fuel.

Unlike electric cars, you just fuel up and go like any other regular vehicle. Where you’ll feel the benefit with mild hybrid vehicles is with the added assistance of an electric motor which reduces the amount of work the combustion engine has to do, improving overall mpg and acceleration.

Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) on the new Rio consists of a radar and camera working collectively to check for upcoming hazards. This includes anything that may be a potential hazard, such as pedestrians, cyclists or other cars. Should it detect something, the system will warn you and even brake automatically if necessary.
