Readers of the Guardian give their verdict on EV ownership

Recently the Guardian newspaper asked its readers who own an EV to give their verdict on the ownership experience.

We have picked out one from Paul Bloch, 61. Owner of a Kia e-Niro.

“We have a Kia Niro and it certainly delivers what it promises. Electric is easy to drive, very quiet and charging is gradually becoming a non-issue.
“We’ve just recently driven from South Devon to Fort William in Scotland. We drove about 700 miles over two days.
We stopped for a coffee at Gloucester services and topped up the battery for 20 minutes at a 44kWh charger. That got us to Lancaster for the night. We plugged in to a 7.5kWh charger in a town centre car park in Lancaster during the evening and that gave us plenty of energy to get to Stirling the next day.

“In Stirling we stopped for lunch and plugged into a 50kWh charger in a town car park. The battery was at 95% after just over an hour and got us to our destination with more than 50% (150 miles) left.
Of course we needed to be signed up to various different charging networks. Our average cost per kWh was about 15p and we drive around 4.7 miles per kWh, at around 65 mph on the motorway and using air con when it’s hot. What’s the fuss? No fuss!”

The Kia e-Niro marks a new, exciting chapter of electric mobility. It adds heaps of style and excitement to eco-friendly driving.

Offering up to 282 miles range and fast charging abilities, it marks a major step in electric powertrain technology. As a true crossover, it pairs advanced technology and comfort with a spacious 451-litre boot.

The e-Niro comes with many individual touches, starting with the closed front grille featuring a striking diamond pattern and an integrated charging socket. The striking arrow-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights and the new design of the bumpers add to the overall presence of the e-Niro. Plus the 17" alloy wheels also feature a unique e-Niro design. The Kia Niro was already an impressive addition to the Kia Range, but with the new electric Niro, Kia has produced an Award-winning Electric SUV.

HOW LONG IS THE RANGE ON AN E-NIRO?
