Added: 14 July 2020
Each member of the Kia Niro family picked up an award at the Diesel Car & Eco Car Top 50, taking home ‘Best Hybrid’, ‘Best Plug-in Hybrid’ and ‘Best Medium Electric Car’.
Ian Robertson, editor at Diesel Car & Eco Car, said: “The Niro makes a great alternative thanks to its on-trend SUV styling. Hidden under its bodywork are hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric powertrains, and each of them are the best of breed. We love the Niro for its roominess, its affordability, and high equipment levels, not to mention the comprehensive seven-year warranty.”
The straight-up hybrid Niro model is capable of a fuel economy of a very impressive 58.9mpg. The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Niro has the ability of travelling up to 36 miles on battery power alone. It also delivers hugely on low-cost, high-efficiency motoring in a stylish crossover package.
The all-electric e-Niro has had praise heaped on it since its launch. It now comes in a three-grade line-up and offers up to an incredible 282 miles from a single charge.
Paul Philpott, CEO and President at Kia Motors (UK), added: “Having such a diverse product range to suit all our customer needs is an asset we, and our dealer network partners, thoroughly enjoy.
“It’s particularly humbling when our products are recognised by high-profile UK awards and seeing so many of our products ranked highly in the Diesel Car & Eco Car Top 50 again in 2020 is a true testament to the popularity and quality of our vehicles.”
Kia’s best-seller in the UK, the Sportage SUV, was ranked 14th in the Top 50. It gained plaudits for its equipment, pricing and engines.
The Ceed and ProCeed also made the list, coming in at 22nd and 32nd respectively. The family-friendly Ceed was noted for its stylish design, long list of standard kit and low running costs. Meanwhile, the sporty ProCeed was applauded for its striking design and large boot capacity.
