Is MG launching an estate version of MG4 EV in 2024?

It has been reported at the recent Geneva Motor Show that MG is due to launch a brand-new version of the MG4 later this year.

This new MG 4 EV estate would be the latest addition to the MG4 family, following the launch of the MG4 Extended Range and MG4 XPOWER performance model in 2023.

As reported by AutoCar, the new MG4 EV estate will be built on MG's Modular Scalable Platform. The EV-specific battery architecture already underpins the entire MG4 range, allowing for its anxiety-busting range, and will also provide the battery platform for the hotly anticipated MG Cyberster

Carl Gotham is the Advanced Design Director at MG's European Design Centre in London. He told AutoCar: “Some of the products are coming to the end of their journey and we're in a really strong position, especially at 100 years old, to take a confident, bold step forward with the new products: update the technology, update the image, but still make it very affordable and accessible for people.

“We don't want to alienate anybody from the brand. That's really MG's advantage. It's always about offering experiences that were maybe [historically] much more inaccessible to everyday people.”

This suggests that the new MG4 estate will supersede the existing MG5 EV - currently the lone electric estate car in MG's line-up of new cars - especially with the announcement of MG's exciting new IM premium EV brand.

The MG5 EV has been a staple of MG's electric lineup for a number of years. The practical estate car has been very popular for its large boot capacity, extra leg room and extensive driving range.

We also spotted the MG7 proudly taking its place beside the Cyberster at the front of MG's showcase of new cars at the Geneva Motor Show. After many years of rumour and speculation, perhaps the much longed for MG7 is coming to the UK in the near future after all!
