Kia EV9 named ‘Family Car of the Year’ 2023 by Top Gear

The brand-new Kia EV9 has been named as 'Family Car of the Year' at the TopGear.com Awards 2023. 

The EV9 - the flagship fully electric SUV from Kia - impressed Top Gear's judges thanks to its combination of a family-friendly space, long driving range, in-car tech, and cutting-edge design and sustainability features. 

Ollie Kew is the Deputy Editor of Top Gear. He said: “We live the EV9's relaxed attitude and breezy surfin' USA demeanour. We like the nothing-to-prove reverse snobbery of its badge and that it's less irritating to operate than a VW ID.Buzz, and travels significantly further on a charge. 

“We like its Bentayga-esque massaging, heated, ventilated seats, its multitude of stowage cubbies, the simplicity of its automatic seat folding, and how it looks like Iron Man's head. It's one of 2023's most interesting cars not because of what it can do, but because of what it represents. Twinning going green and upmarket isn't easy, but the EV9 pulls it off with style!”

The EV9's combination of ultra fast charging, extended electric range and lounge-style comfort sets it apart from other electric vehicles of its class. 

Capable of covering 349 miles on from a single charge, thanks to its highly powerful 99.8kWh battery. With its 800V ultra-fast charging technology, the EV9 can receive 155 miles of charge in as little as 15 minutes! 

The flat e-GMP battery base on which the EV9 is built also means more room in the cabin for its occupants and no negating on boot space either - even when the third row of seats are upright. 

The Kia EV9 is available to order now at Chapelhouse Kia. Specifications include both rear and all-wheel drive, plus seven-seat and six-seat options. 

The top of the range six-seat configuration includes two individual “captain's chairs” which can rotate a full 180 degrees, so you can face those seated in the back row!

It is the third consecutive year Kia has triumphed at the TopGear.com Awards. Last year, the brand was named 'Manufacturer of the Year', while in 2021, the Kia EV6 won 'Crossover of the Year'. 

The stunning EV6, practical Niro EV and reliable Soul EV make up Kia's electric car lineup. They're soon to be joined by the production-ready Kia EV5 SUV, which is set to arrive in the UK in 2025.
