MG Motor UK has confirmed that UK car buyers can now receive an additional £1,500 discount on a MG EV, following the announcement of the Government's Electric Car Grant.
MG Motor UK strongly supports the new government initiative to allow electric vehicles to become more affordable for a greater percentage of UK drivers. With immediate effect, buyers of the MG4 EV, MG4 EV XPOWER, and the new MGS5 EV will bag an extra £1,500 saving on their purchase.

The MG EV Grant is in addition to any current incentives currently offered by us here at Chapelhouse MG, including the £1,000 MG Test Drive Voucher, ensuring that the brand remains at the forefront of offering the best value on BEVS (battery electric cars) available in the UK today. The MG EV Grant is even available with 0% APR finance deals.
The brand new MG IM5 and MG IM6 are soon to join the MG range of electric cars. These two new premium EVs represent a shift in electric vehicle technology with class-leading rapid charging times, breathtaking performance, and outstanding battery technology.
Guy Pigounakis is the Commercial Director for MG Motor UK. He commented: “MG has been a key contributor to the EV sector, consistently recognising the economic and environmental benefits of introducing a wide range of affordable, electric-only models. Today's announcement underlines this commitment and in addition to this, we will also seek to work constructively with the Government to further increase the sale of EVs.”
The UK EV Grant applies to eligible vehicles costing up to £37,000, with the most environmentally friendly seeing the biggest reductions, up to £3,750, said the Department for Transport. The grant hopes to tempt more and more drivers to make the switch to emissions-free motoring before the 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles. The grants to lower the overall cost of electric vehicles will be funded through a £650million scheme and will run for three years.
As of the summer of 2025, there are 1.3 million electric cars on Britain's roads with Heidi Alexander, the Transport Secretary, annoucing the government would invest £63million to improve the network of public EV charging points.
