MG Cyber GTS Concept revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed
MG unveiled a brand-new concept car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed - the MG Cyber GTS.
The dynamic electric coupé is based on the new MG Cyberster, however this model comes with a hard-top roof and 2+2 seating layout.
Marking the 100th anniversary of the MG marque, the Cyber GTS Concept pays tribute to the legendary MGC GTS Sebring model, which secured the highest ever factor MG result in 1968 at the famous 12-hour race on the Sebring circuit.
MG's design team created this special concept car that both captures the spirit of the original MGC GTS Sebring, whilst delivering a real-wheel drive model by utilising the contemporary MG's advanced high-performance EV powertrains.
The Cyber GTS Concept model leaves the door open for MG creating a new GTS model in the future and following the highly anticipated Cyberster, the world's first open-top EV two-seater to go into production.
The festival was a huge event for MG, as the Cyberster took centre stage in front of Goodwood House atop the central feature, along with the iconic MGB roadster, to celebrate 100 years since the brand was founded in 1924.
Guy Pigounakis is the MG Motor UK Commercial Director. He commented: “One hundred years ago, MG pioneered the creation of the popular sports car, turning dreams into reality for millions of enthusiasts around the world.
“We're still committed to that founding vision of delivering accessible, innovative, and truly engaging cars. The Cyberster underlines that commitment with a high-performance EV convertible which we hope will have the same impact as its much-loved forerunners.
“The Festival of Speed is the perfect occasion to celebrate our heritage in our home market where the MG story began, whilst also providing a perfect platform from which to demonstrate the dynamic future of the brand on a world stage.”
MG also gave the all-new HS and HS PHEV their global debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The popular family SUV has a vibrant new look, including an eye-catching front grille and alloy wheels. The HS PHEV also comes with a more powerful hybrid system for better fuel economy and a higher range of electric-only driving.
With a greater level to spec and tech as standard too, the all-new HS looks set to maintain its place in the top ten most popular new cars in the UK. And, of course, as with all new MG cars, the all-new HS and HS PHEV come with a 7-year/80,000 miles manufacturer warranty.
