Although unconfirmed, it's very likely to be built on MG's Modular Scalable Platform, so you can expect a big EV range and ultra rapid charging. The current lineup of MG electric cars have all found great success thanks to the MSP. The battery platform allows for extra cabin and boot space for MG electric cars, and for the option of EV battery replacement.

The Cyberster's launch will coincide with the 100th anniversary of MG's founding in 1924. The stylish two-seater design pays homage to MG's rich history of British sports cars with a long bonnet, low nose and curvaceous surfaces. One particularly striking new feature is the futuristic scissor doors.

Carl Gotham is the Advanced Design Director at MG's London design studio. He commented: “Our intention was to create a completely new roadster ready for a new generation of sports car drivers and which opens a bold and compelling new chapter for MG.

“The focus for Cyberster was to create a design that was respectful of the brand's illustrious past and to bring back that sporting bloodline, while also being absolutely clear that it should be modern and forward-facing like the MG of today, completely in-tune with the rapid transition to electric vehicles.”

Guy Pigounakis is MG Motor UK's Commercial Director. He added: “This is the perfect time to introduce an MG that completely reconnects with our performance DNA and is designed to enthral the driver on every level.
