Kia EV9 shortlisted for 2024 Car of the Year
The brand-new Kia EV9 has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2024 Car of the Year (COTY) award.
Kia's flagship electric SUV has gone through to the final round of voting against six other rivals. It had been ranked in a provisional list of 28 new models launched this year.
The longlist was whittled down to a seven-strong shortlist by 59 COTY judges from 22 countries. The Overall Car of the Year 2024 will be announced next year during February's Geneva International Motor Show.

The six-seat version of the EV9 even boasts two individual “captain's chairs” in the middle row, that allows the passengers to rotate 90 degrees to get a better view of the scenery, and even 180 degrees to interact with those in the rear seats, face-to-face.
Luggage capacity isn't compromised either, with plenty of boot space in the rear, even when all seven seats are upright.
As well as esteemed comfort, the EV9's electric driving range is also perfect for longer motorway journeys. Capable of covering 349 miles on a single charge, the EV9 is in a league of its own for an electric car of its size and price. The entry level model starts at just £64,995.
Thanks to the 800V technology and e-GMP platform upon which it's built, the EV9's 99.8kWh battery can receive 155 miles of charge in as little as 15 minutes!
Jason Jeong is the President at Kia Europe. He commented: “Today we are proud of making it, for a third consecutive time, onto the shortlist of the Car of the Year in Euro award with the Kia EV9.
“The EV9 follows in the footsteps of the award-winning Kia EV6 - the 2022 Car of the Year - proving our ambition to establish ourselves as a leading EV brand in the European market.”
The Kia Niro family, which includes EV, PHEV and HEV options, was also shortlisted for the 2023 award.
