MG HS named UK’s best-selling car in January

The MG HS SUV has been named the UK's best-selling car in January, according to SMMT vehicle sales data.

The MG HS is the largest SUV in the MG family and is available in both petrol and plug-in hybrid specifications. Both come packed with tech as standard and boast affordable luxury, giving people loads more in a time of less.

Total MG sales boomed in January 2023 with a sales growth of over 108%, with total UK sales coming in at 7,433 cars, compared to January last year, giving them a total market share of 2.6%.

The announcement comes as no surprise as MG was recently crowned the fastest growing mainstream brand in the automotive sector for a second consecutive year.

Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director at MG Motor UK, said: “We're thrilled to see two of our best-selling models featured in the overall UK top ten. The HS model has been hugely important in the growth of MG over the last few years, and we're delighted it remains so popular with customers."

The MG HS starts at just £23,495 and is available in either Excite or Exclusive trim with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

The MG HS plug-in hybrid spec is priced at just £31,095 and comes with an automatic gearbox and 32-mile range.

Both come with MGs 7-year warranty as standard and are equipped with MG's advanced driver assistance package, MG Pilot, with a comprehensive package of features that includes Active Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The MG4 is the first all-electric hatchback and is available in multiple trim levels. The MG4 was recently awarded a five-star euro NCAP rating for safety while the MG5 EV was recently voted best car for dog users due to its size and space.
