MG4 named ‘Best Family Car’ at UK Car of the Year Awards

The MG4 EV has been named the 'Best Family Car' at the 2023 UK Car of the Year Awards. This marks the 14th major award win that the all-electric hot hatch has achieved since its launch in September '22. 

The independent awards ceremony is designed specifically for the UK car-buying public. The expert judging panel is made up of some of the most respected motoring journalists in the country. 

The judges praised the MG4's stunning design, high level of build quality, and the extraordinary value for money offered by the MG4 range. The MG4 starts at just £26,995.

Tom Ford, who writes for BBC Top Gear and EV specialist publication Electrifying, said: “In a world where practical electric cars are all SUVs and priced to the sky, the MG4 offers genuine value-for-money bringing EV ownership closer to reality for more people.” 

Fellow judge and journalist Jonny Smith added: “The MG4 does everything better than anyone could have imagined for the budget.” 

The launch of the MG4 has been the catalyst for many drivers to make the switch to all-electric driving.

Despite its very competitive pricing compared to similar sized electric cars you can buy, the MG4 doesn't scrimp on features and tech. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be accessed via the 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The climate control system can even be operated before you even enter the car via the MG iSmart app. The distinctive LED headlights also give the MG4 a particularly striking look. The MG4 also benefits from MG Pilot - MG's package of smart safety features.  

MG's innovative new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), on which the MG4 is built, allows for a higher overall driving range and a lower price than its competitors in the electric hatchback market. The maximum driving range of the top tier 'Trophy Long Range' model is a whopping 365 miles. Even the entry level 'SE' model can travel up to 323 miles on a single charge.  

It also offers rapid charging capability - the MG4 can be charged from 10-80% in as little as 35 minutes. It means travelling longer distances has never been easier without the worries of range anxiety kicking in. The MSP also has the ability for the EV's battery to be changed. 

The MG4 is now added to the shortlist for the overall UK Car of the Year prize, alongside six other category winners, including the all-new Kia Niro.
