Performance

As the name suggests, the Suzuki Swift is a nimble and agile hatchback. It is an ideal choice for the city driver who requires quick responses and easy steering. Best of all, it's fun to drive! 

The Swift is available in three spec trims: the entry-level SZ-L, the mid-range SZ-T, and the top of the range SZ5. 

The higher two trim levels are fitted with CVT automatic transmission as standard. The CVT system can vary the actual gear ratio continuously, and reduces shift-shock in comparison with a conventional automatic gearbox. 

As with all new Suzuki cars, the Swift comes as hybrid as standard. The 1.2-litre Dualjet engine works with a 12-volt battery to power the car's enhanced mild hybrid system. It is Suzuki's Dualjet engine technology that gives the Swift that extra kick. 

The lightweight hybrid system adds just 6.2kg to the weight of the car, meaning its overall efficiency is in no way compromised, helping to keep those running costs low.

The Swift SZ-L can return up to a huge 59.7mpg, meaning fewer trips to the fuel station at a time when the cost of motoring seems to be ever-increasing. 

This easily outperforms the Vauxhall Corsa GS (52.3.mpg) and the Ford Fiesta ST-Line (51.4mpg) when it comes to fuel efficiency. 

The CO2 emissions of just 106g/km will also put you in a lower road tax bracket too, compared to many other city hatchbacks. 

And with a name like the Swift, you can't be much of a slouch either. Accelerating from 0-62mph will take a speedy 12.2 seconds. 

Technology

For a compact supermini, the Swift packs more technology than you might think. It is fitted with a 7-inch touchscreen panel that allows for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring. This means you can safely use your favourite apps and Sat Nav hands-free on the go.

The Swift comes with a rear parking camera on all trims as standard, as well as DAB radio, Bluetooth, Air Con, and Adaptive Cruise Control. 

The Dual Sensor Brake Support is also available on all Swift specs. It detects the risk of collision with a vehicle in front, warning the driver to apply the brakes. When travelling at higher speeds, additional warnings including an audible buzzer and notification on the multi-information display unit.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Weaving Alert Function (WAF) are also handy tools in the Swift's armoury. 

The steering wheel vibrates at higher speeds when the LDW detects the car veering into another lane without prior indication. The WAF also works in a similar way when the car weaves from side to side within a lane. A buzzer will sound and a light on the instrument panel will alert the driver.

Suzuki Swift Sport

The Swift Sport, as the name gives away, is the sportier big brother of the Swift. It has a more powerful 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine, and a larger 48-volt hybrid system. It also provides a greater level of torque too - 235Nm from 2,000rpm. 

Again, the Sport's hybrid system is lightweight in design to retain the Swift's fun-to-drive ethos. 

The more muscular and aerodynamic design sets it apart from the standard Swift, giving the Sport model an identity of its own. It has bigger alloy wheels, at 17 inches, and sporty bucket seats to give that racing car feel. 

Other standout features of the Swift Sport are its specially tuned twin exhaust system, six-speed gearbox, keyless entry and start, and a six-speaker sound system. 

Suzuki Service Activated Warranty

Get more when you buy a Suzuki Swift with Suzuki's Service Activated Warranty. You can extend your warranty each year, long after the standard three-year Suzuki warranty has run out.
