What is Suzuki 7-year warranty and how does it work?

All new Suzuki cars come with the availability of a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, thanks to Suzuki's Service Activated Warranty plan. But what is a Suzuki warranty, how does it work, and what is covered?

First off, a warranty overview.

Warranty is a term issued to you in your contract with the manufacturer that promises to replace or repair an item within a specific period of time. So, when you purchase a Suzuki car from new, you're guaranteed that an approved Suzuki repairer, such as Chapelhouse, will repair your car to the manufacturer's standard up to seven years after its registration date.

The Service Activated Warranty Plan was introduced in 2023 to give all Suzuki customers that ultimate peace of mind that in the unfortunate occasion that something goes wrong on your car that's down to manufacturer or material defect, your car will be repaired to the highest standard free of charge..

How does Suzuki Service Activated Warranty work?

When buying a new Suzuki car, you're covered from the moment you drive away from the dealership. Every new Suzuki car comes with an initial New Vehicle Warranty of 3 years, or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Once three years has passed since your Suzuki car was registered, you can be covered with an additional 4 years' warranty, or until it clocks up 100,000 miles, with Service Activated Warranty.

When your car has its qualifying annual service with an authorised Suzuki repairer, Suzuki will send you a unique code to enter on the Suzuki website. Simply fill in the online form and you will receive email confirmation that Suzuki has given you an extra 12 months of warranty coverage until your car's next scheduled service.

Suzuki will continue to top-up your warranty coverage each time your car has its annual service, up to a vehicle age of seven years or 100,000 miles on the clock.

And what's better is that Suzuki's Service Activated Warranty is completely free. There are no extra costs to your scheduled annual service for the extended warranty deal!

What happens with Service Activated Warranty on Used Cars, and is it transferable?

To underline the long-lasting reliability and quality of Suzuki cars, pre-owned Suzukis are also eligible for Service Activated Warranty - as long as they aren't older than seven years than when it was first registered or they have less than 100,000 miles on the odometer.

What if my used Suzuki car doesn't have a full service history? Even if the previous owner of your car has lost the service history booklet, or there's a gap in the car's service history, it can still qualify for the Service Activated Warranty scheme!

What is covered by Suzuki's New Car Warranty and Service Activated Warranty?

Whether you're driving a Swift or a Swace, an S-Cross or an ACROSS, Suzuki warranty has you covered. All electrical and mechanical factory-fitted components are covered against electrical or mechanical failure.

Except for filters, fuses, spark plugs, worn/warped clutches, brake shoes, pads, drums, discs and cables, oil, fluids, coolant, wiper blades and arms, drive belts, pipes and hoses, lamps and bulbs, high tension leads, wheels and tyres, batteries and exhaust systems, and infotainment systems.

Only Suzuki-approved parts or equivalent in quality will be covered. Using parts not supplied by Suzuki can invalidate any warranty claim.

You must report any defect to an Authorised Suzuki Dealer or Repairer immediately. Continuing to drive for a prolonged period with a known fault may result in your warranty claim being invalidated.

What is not covered by Suzuki's New Car Warranty and Service Activated Warranty?

There are exceptions to the warranty plan that mainly include damage and defects that aren't caused by the manufacturer.

Suzuki warranty isn't liable to repair bodywork repairs of any kind, including sheet metal, body panels, bodywork or glass sealants, paintwork, glass and mirrors, upholstery, carpets, interior and exterior trim, channels and guides, locks, hinges, handles, check straps, antenna, and cosmetic items.

Service Activated Warranty does not cover any injury, failure, loss or damage arising from the following: corrosion, frost, salt, hail, windstorms, lightning, tree sap, bird droppings, water ingress or flooding.

It also fails to cover any defect that existed when the Service Activated Warranty period commenced, or vehicles modified in any way from the original manufacturer's specification.

Wear and tear, faulty repairs, incorrect servicing or failing to have the covered vehicle serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's specification will also invalidate any warranty claims.
