MG4 wins ‘Best Electric Car’ Autocar Award

The MG4 EV picked up its latest award at the 2023 Autocar Awards, securing the 'Best Electric Car' prize. 

Since its launch in September 2022, the MG4 has hoovered up motoring industry awards thanks to its high level of tech, excellent driving range, ultra-quick charging times, and exceptional affordability. 

The MG4 has an ultimate driving range of over 360 miles on a full battery and can charge from 10-80% in as little as 35 minutes. The MG4 range starts at just £26,995.

MG's flagship electric hot hatch has played a key role in MG's impressive sales growth in 2023 and has become the second-best selling EV in the UK so far this year. Along with its latest Autocar award, the MG4 EV has won in 2023: 

• Company Car and Van 'Car of the Year' and 'Best Small Electric Car' 
• WhatCar? 'Best Small Electric Car'
• UKCOTY 'Best Family Car' and 'Overall Car of the Year' 
• Fleet News 'EV Breakthrough of the Year'

Guy Pigounakis (above), MG's UK Commercial Director, attended the awards ceremony at the iconic Silverstone race circuit. “Receiving an Autocar award is a very significant achievement,” he added.

“The Cyberster, a full EV roadster, will arrive in the UK next year and will build on the success of the MG4.” 

The brand unveiled the brand new MG Cyberster EV sports car at the recent Shanghai Motor Show. Its 2024 launch will mark 20 years since MG last produced a high-performance sports car, and coincides with the 100th anniversary of the marque's founding by Cecil Kimber in 1924.

Like the MG4 EV, MG5 EV and ZS EV, the Cyberster will be built on MG's Modular Scalable Platform. The MSP battery base has been key to the success of MG's electric cars - contributing to affordable electric cars with extensive EV driving ranges that their rivals have struggled to compete with.
