The brand new Suzuki e Vitara – what we know so far

Suzuki has announced its first mass-production fully electric car - the Suzuki e Vitara

The new e Vitara is based upon the eVX concept model that was first showcased at the Auto Expo held in India in early 2023.

What are the main features of the Suzuki e Vitara?

The e Vitara maintains the strong, rugged look that has been long associated with the Vitara model. The new e Vitara combines the advanced feel of a modern electric car with the size and strength you expect from a family SUV. The design theme is High-Tech and Adventure.

The exterior features a striking design that includes large-diameter tyres and a long wheelbase, while the interior incorporates an integrated display with advanced equipment and centre console, reflecting that core High-Tech and Adventure theme.

The e Vitara will be available in two battery levels, featuring a 49kWh battery capacity in the entry level model, and 61kWh battery for the higher spec. The new e Vitara also features a new electric all-wheel drive system.

Electric 4-wheel drive

Suzuki is launching its brand new electric 4WD system in the e Vitara - ALLGRIP-e.

Driven by two independent eAxles at the front and rear, ALLGRIP-e utilises Suzuki's expertise in four-wheel drive technology. Not only does ALLGRIP-e provide powerful performance, but it also allows for precise control and excellent responsiveness.

Additionally, it includes a Trail mode that enables smooth escape from rough terrain by applying the brakes to spinning tyres and distributing drive torque to the opposite tyre (LSD function).

Newly developed HEARTECT-e platform

The new HEARTECT-e platform has been specifically designed for BEVs (battery electric vehicles). It features a lightweight structure, high-voltage protection, and a spacious interior due to the short overhang. The main floor eliminates the underfloor members to maximise battery capacity.
